Extensive Expertise in Water, Environment and Social Development

Chairperson and CEO of Hisaar Foundation, Simi Kamal brings over 40 years of expertise in water, poverty, gender, and public policy, with global experience across South Asia, the Middle East, Europe, Africa, and the Asia Pacific. One of the Founders of Panjwani-Hisaar Water Institute at NED University, she serves as Member, Executive Board and Adviser in the establishment of the PKR 1600 Million-donation funded Water Institute.
Educated at the University of Cambridge as a Geographer, she is widely recognized for translating complex development challenges into actionable policy, strategy, and large-scale programs. A leading voice in the water and climate change sector, she has advised governments, donors, and international organizations on water governance, climate adaptation, gender equity, and inclusive development, with a strong focus on women’s leadership and equitable access to public services. She has led over 200 assignments, managing multimillion-dollar programs and driving systems-level impact, and is a trusted advisor known for bridging high-level policy with on-ground implementation.
